A journey from Manhattan to Thanet via Sicily. Three islands connected via VHS tape.
In 2009 Franca Pauli and Dario Colombo acquired on behalf of the Sicilian town of Salemi a collection of 42,000+ videos that made up Kim’s Video and Music, an infamous video shop in the East Village of New York City. Described as the “go-to place for rare selections”, Kim’s Video and Music was a cult New York institution for two decades.
From New York City, Kim’s Video and Music comes to Margate. This video installation will show clips from the collection in the window of Resort Studios, offering an introduction to the project in Margate as well as a chance for you to get involved.
On Thursday September 22nd, Franca Pauli will give a talk, as well as screening some rare highlights from the shop’s collection.
